Port regulations
There are general regulations for movement of ships. Their aim is to provide safety of ships at sea. Besides they are local regulations for most of the sea ports. They are issued by the port authorities. These local regulations prescribe the ship certain actions when entering, leaving or staying in the port. They refer to quarantine anchorages pilot services, berthing, loading and discharging operations. The local regulations describe signals in the port and sometimes special customs regulations. For example, regulations prescribe vessels to reduce speed when passing harbor entrances, moored vessels, ship movements in the harbor required permission from the Harbor Master. No ashes, dust, waste oil other rubbish may be discharged overboard within territorial waters. Masters of vessels should get acquainted with port regulations immediately on arrival to the port.

Salvage
- is the voluntary saving of maritime property from dangers at sea. International Convention on selvage was adopted in 1989.
The possible cases of salvage:
- towing a disabled vessel
- salvage of cargo
- removal of wrecks
- refloating ship grounding off-shore
- refloating ship in sheltered waters
- rescuataing the crew of the wreck ship
Possible ways of Refloating:
- sallyng vessel (раскачивание)
- backing full speed
- pulling with a help of the tug
- dredging and scoiring (вымывание грунта) alongside
- expelling water from the holed compartments
- removal of fuel, water, cargo, stores and spare part
- use of pressed air for flooded compartments
- twisting the ship
- use of oil for calming troubling waters (if theres swell)

Factors taken into account while planning the refloating:
- swell
- weather conditions
- surf
- stage of a tide
- loading of the vessel
